Oh shit! It's been over a month since I've last posted a wine update. I've been so busy with vinyl shopping and organizing, and trying to figure out what day it is during this quarantine, and what to do about my teen's sleep schedule, and how the fuck to go about my day. I can't even go out and buy new wine right now, so I'm clearing out the wine cooler. And I'm finding quite the weird collection we've accumulated over the years. Before we left Germany, we bought some wine to move to California with us. Wine we were given during various occasions. And this is one of them... Blech. Okay, not entirely blech... but yeah, a little strong for me. Maybe it's because I don't like merlot. Who knows.

I seriously think I need to re-evaluate my wine choices. This. Wine. Was. Not. Good. It's too sweet for my liking. Too "I need to brush my teeth right after drinking" sweet. Maybe all Australian Wines are like that? I don't know. Or maybe it's because yet again, I got this wine at Walmart when I should probably start taking my fancy ass to local spirit or cork stores. Could also be, this was a screw top and no cork for me to add to my cork collection, it's missing that extra aroma you get from a corked wine. I'm telling you, there is a difference.
Ummm... Yeah. No! Alice White Shiraz invigorates the senses with black currant fruit, ripe plum, spicy vanilla, and licorice aromas and flavors. Since 1996, Alice White has rewarded wine lovers and discover seekers with rich, delicious wines produced in the heart of sun-drenched South Eastern Australia, one of the world's finest wine regions. Alice White Shiraz Wine: Invigorates the senses Aromas and flavors of black currant fruit, ripe plum, spicy vanilla, and licorice. All that and a bag of chips. I didn't like it. ![]() NAME: Alice White Shiraz Variety: Red Blend Region: Australia Year: 2012 Price: $6.99 My Review: It's taken me quite a few days to drink this wine. Most of the time I couldn't even finish the glass. Too bitter. Too thick. There was something chocolate like - I love chocolate, don't get me wrong, but it was a strange chocolate taste. Like a day old chocolate taste. P.S. Sir Perky Novelty Bottle Stopper can be purchased on Amazon!

you could ever imagine. He is happy at all times.
Nothing brings him down. Not even his disability. He continues to brighten our day with his fanatic Taylor Swift obsession and his off tune singing (or squeaking if you will) because since birth, music has been his number one passion.
Andrew's other passions are shopping and going out and about with his family. It wasn't but four years ago, something big happened in our past little community of Temecula, California. We never thought one simple act of kindness would make us viral and give us such a sweet memory.
So, of course, for his 18th birthday we asked what he wanted for his birthday, and just like his mom and dad, Andrew wanted records to sit and enjoy them with his parents - and they had to be none other than Taylor Swift - his top 3 favorite albums. #CerebralPalsyLife
Let's go. The very first wine review. You'll be surprised to know (or expected) I chose the cheap wine. But hear me out. I didn't know it was cheap wine until recently. I also didn't know I owned this bottle until recently. Backtrack - I receive bottles of wine from friends. Most of the time, I just put them in the wine cooler and forget about them. But a few weeks ago, I ran out of my absolute favorite bottle of Pinot Grigio, so I decided to grab me a bottle of something red out of the cooler. I didn't pay attention to the brand, I didn't pay attention to its region, nothing. I grabbed. I uncorked. I enjoyed. After almost emptying the entire bottle (whoops) I googled where to get this bottle and was stunned our local Kroger sells it for $2.99. HELL YEAH! I mean, really - you don't have to buy and enjoy a $65 bottle. I'm not a snob, I drink any kind of wine.
Try it. And leave me a comment if you like it or not.
That's the beauty of opinions, everyone can have a different one.
You know how 'Murica has these compilation CDs called NOW THAT'S WHAT I CALL MUSIC and they're hits from a certain time (I think we're on HITS 73 now)
Well, in Germany we have Bravo Hits and they started releasing in the early 90s, (April 1992 was the first one) We are up to 103 if I'm not mistaken - anywho, I'm currently going through them because I really don't like most new music. And Snoop Dogg started playing. Now I have to convince the hubby we NEED a Snoop for our vinyl Collection. Seriously - that would be cool, right?
Question, what is Love?
Answer, the same as hate if you're not careful!
Which brings me here... to this blog. How fun would it be to find all the nearest (and maybe even out of town) wine stores and try every single wine (within budget) and then report on it. Others like to mix up cocktails. I like wine. But wine isn't the only thing I like. So I've decided to combine my love for wine with my love for vinyls and at times books. |
